Lister shearing
One of my meetings i had arranged on my way back from training was with lister UK
Lister shearing was born over a hundred years ago in 1909 and has been based in the UK ever since
They where bought over in 2002 by the Wahl clipper company which has allowed them to invest and grow
While their competitors make stuff in china etc everything for lister is sourced and assembled in the UK where ever possible.
Enough of the company
I got there after my first meeting with >>you’ll find out later<< slightly over ran so I was running just behind schedule. Still managed to get to the UK factory at 09:30 and was greeted by David who is the worldwide sales manager as Hefin the UK account manager was on the road seeing customers in wales.
I had spoken a few times with Hefin over the phone who is not your typical sales guy and actually knows the product which he should being a sheep shearer. he is my main contact in lister as well as Zoe who looks after accounts.
I had a few hours with David where he went over the products they produce. David is an ex-engineer so I got on well with him and managed not to bore him to tears with 3D printing.
Sadly due to Covid a tour of the factory wasn’t on the cards so i was limited to looking over the factory floor from the conference room.
Lister are keen to work with myself as they feel having local independent guys on the ground can offer a better customer service to the end users
What does this mean for you the customer.
I have access to all the technical drawings form lister as well as technical advice.
I can also sell you products from the lister range at the recommended retail price.
Can online retailers beat me on price?
YEP
However they aren’t just round the corner to deal with issues and they won’t give you a short lesson in how to care for your clippers
Whats next?
The plan for Lister is to build a training facility in the factory and once this is up and running I’ll be one of the first through its doors.
For myself i’ll be pouring over the information i have and building up a working set of spares.
I’ll also add one or two clippers into our hands that will be hire and demo units.
If the demand is there i will also be stocking some new machines and other stuff.
As unknown to myself Lister sell horse shampoo.
